Candie Sweetser, Representative for NM House Dist 32
Yesterday’s Step with a Rep, sponsored by the Lordsburg-Hidalgo Chamber of Commerce, was a great opportunity to talk about the recent legislative session and receive updates on the city and county. I appreciate everyone who took time from their schedule to attend. Hats off to the organizers and participants! #LoveLordsburg #dist32rocks ![]() Candie Sweetser, Representative for NM House Dist 32 Today, (March 8, 2022) I filed my declaration of candidacy to serve as your NM District 32 State Representative for another term. I have never lost sight of what an honor and privilege it is to work for you in Santa Fe. Redistricting changed House District 32 by three precincts: the district no longer contains Hachita in Grant County, but includes two precincts in the Uvas Valley and Hatch areas of Dona Ana County. I pledge to continue doing my best to represent the small business, agriculture, and rural voices of our area, and I appreciate your support. Thank you! #dist32rocks Nice mail to receive on a Friday afternoon. #nmleg #district32rocks
This afternoon I helped dedicate the Medal of Honor Commemorative Marker for the Battle of Chiricahua Pass, which took place October 20, 1869, between Apache warriors and U.S. Army soldiers. The marker, dedicated at the Chiricahua Desert Museum north of Rodeo, NM, recognizes the 33 Medal of Honor recipients — the most Medals of Honor issued for a one-day battle in U.S. Army history, a record that still stands. #dist32rocks
So honored to be part of 4-H day at the NM legislature today!
I had the honor of presenting the 4H memorial in the House of Representatives. In 4‑H programs, kids and teens complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Kids experience 4‑H in every county and parish in the country through in-school and after-school programs, school and community clubs and 4‑H camps. So many members, including my co-sponsors have served in 4H or as 4H volunteers.
