Ready for Day Two of the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Child Welfare Fellow program in Seattle. The program is looking at relationships between child welfare, early childhood experiences, and youth homelessness across the country.
One speaker said policies and decisions should be guided by “the standard of our own” — if it’s not good enough for our own children it shouldn’t be good enough for anyone else’s children. #childrenareourfuture #thestandardofourown #dist32rocks #dist32ismymotivation

Accepting the New Mexico District Attorney’s Association 2022 Legislative Representative of the Year award from Sixth Judicial District Attorney Michael Renteria. Among the legislation I’ve sponsored is a proposed constitutional amendment to add flight risk and interference with the criminal process as circumstances for which bail may be denied. Thank you for the recognition!! #dist32rocks #dist32ismymotivation

Quick trip to Santa Fe today for the organizational meeting of this interim’s Rural Economic Opportunity Task Force, which I co-chair. This interim’s tentative work plan includes addressing rural infrastructure, education, service and other needs, looking at the economics of agricultural businesses, and reviewing the findings of the 2021 rural infrastructure study. #dist32rocks #dist32ismymotivation

My Pledge Against Negative Campaigning

As we move into the general election, I’m renewing my pledge against negative campaigning. Since my first campaign in 2016, I have never run a negative advertisement nor sent a negative mailer, and have successfully stopped all third-party, independent entities from attacking my opponents by making this public pledge. I‘ve spoken to my opponent and she agrees: District 32 deserves our best — not politics at its worst! #dist32rocks #dist32ismymotivation

Received a legislative briefing today at the Playas Research and Training Center in Hidalgo County on current and pending contracts at the facility. Ongoing operations include DART — Drone Assessment and Response Tactics — which brought first responders from across the nation for a weeklong training. I appreciate Rep. Gail Armstrong (R-49) joining me for the briefing. #NMTech #Gail4NM #dist32rocks #dist32ismymotivation

Honored to be participating in this week’s 94th New Mexico FFA State Convention. It’s been a few years since I sported the blue and gold jacket, but the FFA motto, “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve,” is deeply ingrained in me. #FFAalumna #NewMexicoFFA #dist32rocks #dist32ismymotivation
